Soccer Game Preview: Diego Rivera vs. Jefferson

The Diego Rivera Huskies will take on the Jefferson Democrats at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Diego Rivera came up short against Dr. Maya Angelou Community and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 757th, while the Phoenix are ranked 149th).

Meanwhile, Jefferson kept a clean sheet against West Adams on Wednesday. They blew past the Panthers 3-0. That three goal margin sets a new team best for the Democrats this season.

They hit West Adams with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Enner Velasquez, Maximo Ortiz, and Abner Martinez.

Diego Rivera dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Jefferson, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Diego Rivera beat Jefferson by a goal in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 1-0. Will Diego Rivera repeat their success, or does Jefferson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
