Baseball Recap: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pharr-San Juan-Alamo had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on the Veterans Memorial Chargers with a sharp 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 15 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Jacob Delgadillo, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Veterans Memorial off the board. Delgadillo has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on TJ Ayala, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in February. Jai Arenas was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo pushed their record up to 27-3-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Veterans Memorial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season.

As of now, neither Pharr-San Juan-Alamo nor Veterans Memorial have any future games scheduled.
