Basketball Recap: Calvary Find Success

Calvary won the last time they faced Peoria Christian and things went their way on Saturday too. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Calvary Saints made off with an 81-80 win over the Peoria Christian Chargers.

Calvary's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Blackford led the charge by going 11 of 16 on his way to 29 points and eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Blackford has scored at least a third of Calvary's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Antione Hunter, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds.

Calvary smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Calvary's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Peoria Christian, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-8.
