Softball Recap: Murphysboro Find Success

Murphysboro was handed a seven-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Trico Pioneers 9-8. This was payback for the Red Devils, who suffered a 7-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Macey Alexander, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Cadence Fox was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

The victory got Murphysboro back to even at 1-1.

Murphysboro wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-1 win against Vienna on the 19th. As for Trico, they will face off against Wesclin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
