Baseball Game Preview: Harker Eagles vs. Gunderson Grizzlies

The Harker Eagles will square off against the Gunderson Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Harker is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Harker easily dispatched Westmoor last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Eagles fell just short of Priory by a score of 9-7 last Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.

Ryan Pham and Mason Brooks stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pham scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Brooks scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Pham also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aarav Borthakur, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Gunderson had taken Overfelt down for five straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Grizzlies lost 17-4 to the Royals. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brandon Salgado made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.

Gunderson now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Harker, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-4.

Harker beat Gunderson 12-7 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
