Basketball Recap: Central Falls Despite Big Games from Brandon Bussey and Sema J Copeland

After flying high against Webster County on Friday, Central came back down to earth. The Central Hawks took a 67-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Taylor County Vikings on Saturday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-56 last Thursday.

Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sema J Copeland, who posted 25 points, and Brandon Bussey, who scored 18 points. That's the most points Bussey has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Demarcus White, who put up seven points.

Taylor County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Marcal Myles out in front who had 17 points. Ajavian Wilder was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Central has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Taylor County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-62 loss against Crawford County on the 4th. As for Taylor County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 59-45 win against Chattahoochee County on the 4th.
