Recap: Modesto Christian Crusaders vs. Lodi Flames

The Modesto Christian Crusaders had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They managed a 60-56 win over Lodi. Given Modesto Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Lodi is ranked 193rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Gavin Sykes, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Washington, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.

Modesto Christian pushed their record up to 17-3 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points per game. As for Lodi, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9.

Modesto Christian will head out on the road to face off against St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully St. Mary's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Monday. As for Lodi, they will be playing at home against Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
