Basketball Recap: Carson Cougars vs. Concord Spiders
Carson fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Concord on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 73-72 to the Concord Spiders. The Cougars were up 53-35 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Jayden Beyan was his usual excellent self, going 11 for 19 en route to 28 points for Concord. Those 28 points gave Beyan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyvonta Rushmeyer, who went 6 of 15 to rack up 18 points.
Carson's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Concord, they pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Looking ahead, Carson will be playing in front of their home fans against South Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carson is facing South Rowan at the right time seeing as South Rowan is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Concord, they will head out to challenge Northwest Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Concord is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.5 points per game this season.
