Basketball Recap: College Park Falcons vs. Alhambra Bulldogs

The College Park Falcons waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Alhambra 41-38. Despite the win, that was the fewest points College Park has scored all year.

It was another big night for Miles Smith, who scored 18 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Whittles, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.

When it comes to explaining why Alhambra lost, one person who can't be blamed is Torrance Avery. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. It was the first time this season that Avery posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Samuel Gillaspy, who scored eight points.

College Park pushed their record up to 13-13 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Alhambra, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. College Park will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Berean Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 931st, while the Falcons are ranked 395th). As for Alhambra, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Matadors at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Miramonte has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 202 points over their last three games.
