Baseball Recap: Hoover Comes Up Short

Hoover was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Glendale Nitros. If the Tornados were looking for revenge after losing 5-1 to the Nitros when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Owen Marks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hoover saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Cano, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Kieran Sinta was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Hoover's defeat dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Glendale, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-19.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Nitros beat Hoover by a score of 10-2 on Friday.
