Basketball Game Preview: Bowman Academy Eagles vs. Andrean Fighting 59ers

Bowman Academy is 0-4 against Andrean since December of 2018 but things could change on Saturday. The Bowman Academy Eagles will be playing at home against the Andrean Fighting 59ers at 7:00 p.m.

Bowman Academy saw some tournament action on Saturday. They were beaten by Hammond Morton 84-55. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Governors are ranked 58th).

Bowman Academy might have lost, but man, Kahlen Robinson was a machine: she went 8 of 19 en route to 28 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That was a full 50.9% of Bowman Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiyah Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Bowman Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Andrean can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 48-39 victory over Munster.

Bowman Academy now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Andrean, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Bowman Academy was taken down by Andrean 65-20 in their previous meeting back in February of 2021. Thankfully for Bowman Academy, Julia Schutz (who went 8 of 11 on her way to 19 points and seven rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
