Basketball Recap: Lakewood Gators vs. Crestwood Knights
It was a good run, but the Lakewood Gators unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 51-36 bruising from Crestwood. If Lakewood was looking for revenge after losing 49-44 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Lakewood's loss came despite strong showings from Zakiya Hodge and Iesha shaw. Hodge scored 15 points, while shaw scored 11 points.
Crestwood was led to victory by London Vaughn and Saniya Williams. Vaughn scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Williams scored 23 points along with five rebounds. Williams has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Javiah Martin, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Crestwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakewood will take on the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crestwood, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Camden's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games.
