Softball Game Preview: David Anderson Blue Devils vs. United Golden Eagles

The David Anderson Blue Devils are taking a road trip to face off against the United Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. David Anderson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

David Anderson will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against East on Saturday. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 23-2 margin over East. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with East recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Emelia Cook was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Abby Ammon was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5.

David Anderson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.2.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, United was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They lost 16-1 to Maplewood. The match marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, United fell to 7-1. As for David Anderson, their record now sits at 4-7.

David Anderson suffered a grim 22-1 defeat to United in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
