Evangel Christian has gone a perfect 10-0 against East Central HomeSchool recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Lightning are taking a road trip to square off against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Evangel Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Evangel Christian's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Wiregrass by a score of 5-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lightning.
Not much got past ASHER EVANS, who gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Wiregrass off the board. EVANS has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Evangel Christian let RALEY CURTIS and TREY HOPE run wild. CURTIS went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while HOPE went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, East Central HomeSchool hadn't done well against Ezekiel Academy recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Patriots walked away with a 12-8 win over the Knights.
Cade Best and Levi Jett did most of the damage at the plate: Best went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Jett went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Best has become a key player for East Central HomeSchool: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Isaac Davis also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
East Central HomeSchool was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ezekiel Academy only posted a batting average of .310.
Evangel Christian's record is now 26-3. As for East Central HomeSchool, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Evangel Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like East Central HomeSchool struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Evangel Christian's way against East Central HomeSchool in their previous matchup back in March, as Evangel Christian made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lightning since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
