Basketball Recap: Chase Brooks and Evan Mutz Secure Win for Wells

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Wells ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Northville Falcons 59-56. For the Wells CSD, this counts as revenge for the 60-33 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Wells was led to victory by Evan Mutz and Chase Brooks. Mutz dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards, while Brooks posted 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The contest was Brooks' 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Passmore, who had six points in addition to nine rebounds and six assists.

Wells now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Northville, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wells will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lake Placid at 6:30 p.m. on December 17th. As for Northville, they will square off against Fort Ann at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
