Van put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Athens Hornets a 15-0 shutout. The Vandals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Van's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Athens, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season.

Van and Athens should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Van will face off against Mabank at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 669 places (79 vs. 748). Meanwhile, Athens (ranked 484th) will meet Kemp (ranked 975th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
