Softball Recap: Labelle's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

LaBelle dropped their record down to 11-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Evangelical Christian Sentinels. The Cowboys/Cowgirls were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the five contests prior), but the Sentinels' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Evangelical Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. Considering they have won 15 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Evangelical Christian's part, the result came thanks to Hayden Billie's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. Billie has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Evangelical Christian let Karsyn Mootz and Keaunna Green run wild. Mootz went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Green went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Green has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Samantha Yzaguirre, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, LaBelle will face off against Neumann at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Celtics will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Cowboys/Cowgirls surely won't give up without a fight. Evangelical Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
