Clear Creek hasn't had much luck against Dayspring Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Golddiggers will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m.
On Monday, Clear Creek came up short against SkyView Academy and fell 9-5. The Golddiggers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Anthony Zacharias made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Dayspring Christian Academy's pitcher stepped up to hand Rocky Mountain Lutheran a 13-0 shutout. Dayspring Christian Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Gage Davis made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Logan Vaniddekinge and Josiah Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Vaniddekinge went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Rodriguez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Vaniddekinge has posted since back in March. Gavin Bohl was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Dayspring Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rocky Mountain Lutheran only posted an OBP of .176.
Clear Creek now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, their record is now 11-3.
Clear Creek suffered a grim 20-1 defeat to Dayspring Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Golddiggers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
