Football Recap: Winthrop Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Winthrop can now relate to. They fell 30-20 to the Stoneham Spartans on Friday. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 27-14 to the Spartans when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Winthrop's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Stoneham, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Winthrop will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Revere at 10:00 a.m. on the 27th. As for Stoneham, they will venture away from home to face off against Fairhaven at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Blue Devils have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
