Griffith is 1-9 against Highland since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Griffith is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Griffith is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Hammond Bishop Noll. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Warriors since on Tuesday.

Jackson Davenport made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Griffith is 4-1 when Davenport posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Anthony Feliciano, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
Highland came out on top against East Chicago Central on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run second inning. The Trojans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 14-0 shutout. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Joe Stephan looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Nate Phillips and Logan Finch did most of the damage at the plate: Phillips got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Finch went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Finch a new career-high. Danijel Zekavica was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Highland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Griffith now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Highland, their record is now 7-10.
Griffith might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Highland when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
