Basketball Recap: Lehigh Find Success

Lehigh hasn't had much luck at home recently (they'd lost four straight) but thanks in part to Rianne Smith that streak is no more. The Lehigh Lightning came out on top against the South Fort Myers Wolfpack by a score of 44-34 on Thursday thanks in part to Smith, who went 7 for 17 on her way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Lehigh's points.

Esmeralda Morales was another key player, putting up five points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (four).

When it comes to explaining why South Fort Myers lost, don't look at Mariah Thorne. Despite the final result, she posted 21 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Ja'Meria Church, who scored six points and seven rebounds.

Lehigh's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for South Fort Myers, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Lehigh didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-20 loss against North Fort Myers on the 13th. South Fort Myers has also already played their next matchup, a 47-18 win against Clewiston on the 10th.
