Football Recap: Lockhart Lions vs. Anderson Trojans
A win for Lockhart just wasn't in the cards on Friday as the team wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They were dealt a 57-14 defeat at the hands of the Anderson Trojans. The Lions just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.
Lockhart lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nathaniel Gonzales, who rushed for 126 yards. Gonzales' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 103 rushing yards. Lockhart also got help from Gage Deutsch, who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Anderson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ed Small, who picked up 240 receiving yards and four touchdowns. What's more, Small also racked up seven rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September of 2023. Max Gerlich was another key player, throwing for 391 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes.
Lockhart's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Anderson, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Lockhart wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 63-0 loss against A&M Consolidated on the 8th. Anderson has also already played their next contest, a 38-9 defeat against Weiss on the 8th.
