Basketball Recap: St. Amant Comes Up Short

After flying high against Prairieville last Friday, St. Amant came back down to earth. The St. Amant Gators fell 60-51 to the East Ascension Spartans on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Spartans are ranked 25th).

St. Amant's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 19-18. As for East Ascension, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

St. Amant has already played their next game, a 70-33 loss against Prairieville on the 27th. As for East Ascension, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 83-45 victory against Lake Arthur on the 27th.
