Basketball Recap: Walsh Jesuit Comes Up Short

Walsh Jesuit came up into this matchup off a tough 21-point defeat last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers by a score of 28-25 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since January 10, 2024.

Despite the defeat, Walsh Jesuit saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kara Esterak posted nine points and eight steals. That was a full 36% of Walsh Jesuit's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kami Digennaro, who had ten points.

Walsh Jesuit dropped their record down to 8-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Cuyahoga Falls, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-10 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walsh Jesuit has already played their next contest (against Garfield Community Learning Center), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cuyahoga Falls will square off against Barberton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
