Basketball Recap: Archbishop Spalding Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Mount St. Joseph

On Friday, Archbishop Spalding faced Mount St. Joseph in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 66-65 to the Mount St. Joseph Gaels. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (62), the Cavaliers still had to take the loss.

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kam Carter, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points Carter has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrence Moultrie Jr, who shot 55% from the field on his way to 14 points and eight boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Archbishop Spalding and nudges their season record down to 23-9. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 points. As for Mount St. Joseph, they moved to 16-12 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Archbishop Spalding does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mount St. Joseph has already played their next matchup (against Archbishop Curley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
