Basketball Game Preview: Shadow Ridge Stallions vs. Sunnyslope Vikings

Two dominant guards in Danica Lindemann and Teagan McIlroy are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Shadow Ridge Stallions will take on the Sunnyslope Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shadow Ridge's defense has only allowed 29.8 points per game this season, so Sunnyslope's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Shadow Ridge is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Skyline just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Coyotes by a score of 44-42.

Meanwhile, Sunnyslope is ranked highly in their home state and last Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Snow Canyon. Sunnyslope was beaten by Snow Canyon 74-46. The Vikings' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Shadow Ridge will need focus on slowing down Amelia Mickelson, one of several Sunnyslope players who made an impact when they last played. She posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shannon McIlroy, who put up 11 points.

Shadow Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Sunnyslope, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Shadow Ridge and Sunnyslope were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, but Shadow Ridge came up empty-handed after a 33-32 defeat. Can Shadow Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
