Dorsey Grose spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cate Jurack, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Alecia McCray was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, John Champe scored first but ultimately less than Freedom in their matchup on Thursday. They lost 25-9 to the Eagles.
Victoria Katilius made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Molly Hamilton, who went 1-for-4 with two runs.
Charles J. Colgan pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for John Champe, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
John Champe's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Charles J. Colgan has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for John Champe, though, as they've been averaging 10.7 hits. Given Charles J. Colgan's sizable advantage in that area, the Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.
Charles J. Colgan came out on top in a nail-biter against John Champe when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Sharks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
