Volleyball Recap: Ridgeland Starts off Right with Win over Dalton Academy

Ridgeland had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Dalton Academy Pumas on Tuesday. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pumas, too.

Ridgeland had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-13, 15-9.

Jaiden Duran paced Ridgeland's offense, picking up eight kills. Duran got some help from Kali Crawford and her 17 assists. Finally, Zoey Fleming kept Ridgeland's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Dalton Academy dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Ridgeland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Gordon Lee on the 14th. As for Dalton Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Coahulla Creek on the 14th.
