WPIAL A Big Seven recap September 4, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Union Area, who defeated 250th ranked Union Area, 20-0. Joseph Serventi ran for 62 yards in the win.

Fans got a thrill when Jake Berger and Ricky Fayad connected against Laurel. The connection went for 83 yards, the longest such play in WPIAL A Big Seven this season.

South Side's dynamic duo of Berger and Fayad proved to be unstoppable against the Spartan, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Berger threw for 95 yards and Fayad had 95 yards receiving.

The Rams' dynamic duo of Berger and Fayad proved tough for Laurel to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Berger put up the best numbers in passing as South Side lost to Pat Cuba's team.

Fayad was the best receiver in the league this week as Glenn McDougal's team lost to the Spartan.

Serventi was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate John Truskowski added to the ground attack by rushing for 32 yards.

The Rams' Berger and Fayad have formed a dream team this season, leading WPIAL A Big Seven in both passing and receiving yards. Berger has thrown for 95 yards this season, while Fayad, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 2 catches for 95 yards. Serventi from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart leads the league in rushing with 62 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Neshannock takes on Laurel. At the moment, the Lancers are in third, while the Spartan are in fourth.

The Chargers moved up to 306 from 388 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart was able to make move up by beating the Scotties 20-0.
