Volleyball Game Preview: Columbia Falls Wildcats vs. Polson Pirates

Columbia Falls is 2-8 against Polson since October of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 7:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Columbia Falls comes in on three and Polson on seven.

If Libby wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Columbia Falls, they should've done a better job of containing Ava Scholz. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Loggers with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday for which the team can thank Scholz, who had 13 digs and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-17, 25-12.

Meanwhile, Polson got the win against Browning on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Polson took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-15, 25-8.

Columbia Falls better keep an eye on Rylee Taylor-Jefferson. She was instrumental in Polson's win, getting 15 assists and four aces. That's the most aces Taylor-Jefferson has posted since back in November of 2024.

Polson was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in nine consecutive matches.

Columbia Falls' win bumped their record up to 11-6-1. As for Polson, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
