Basketball Recap: Lake Weir Takes a Loss

Lake Weir was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 61-13 defeat at the hands of the Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 64-16 back in November.

Flagler Palm Coast was led to victory by Ava Works and Kierra Clark. Works posted 16 points and five steals, while Clark earned 12 points along with eight boards and six assists. Works is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Alexandra Perez was another key player, putting up eight points and five steals.

Lake Weir's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Flagler Palm Coast, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Weir will welcome Dunnellon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dunnellon will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Lake Weir surely won't give up without a fight. As for Flagler Palm Coast, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Oviedo at 7:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Flagler Palm Coast's favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Oviedo has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
