Football Recap: Percy Julian Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Percy Julian extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were dealt a 43-0 defeat at the hands of the Pike Road Patriots. The Phoenix lost against the Patriots in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 39-35 score last time.

Earnest Shuford threw for 41 yards on four of 13 attempts. Orrion Harvest was his top target, picking up 41 receiving yards. On the ground, Elijah Nowden rushed for 35 yards.

As for Pike Road, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Pike Road got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gunner Gibbs out in front who threw for 166 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Gibbs a new career-high in rushing yards (19). O'Mari Smith was another key pass catcher, picking up 75 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Percy Julian will head out to face off against JAG at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Pike Road, they will challenge Opelika at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
