Softball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Live Oak

Live Oak had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt French Settlement on Tuesday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Lions. Considering the Eagles have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Taylor MaTTingly, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Halle Maxwell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Live Oak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as French Settlement only posted an OBP of .250.

The victory was the eighth in a row for Live Oak, bringing their record up to 18-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for French Settlement, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 13-10 record.

Coincidentally, Live Oak and French Settlement will both be playing Dutchtown the next time they take the field. The Lions will head out to face the Griffins at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Eagles will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
