Basketball Recap: Dre Hoskins Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Long Reach

Wilde Lake won the last time they faced Long Reach and things went their way on Friday too. The Wilde Lake Wildecats came out on top against the Long Reach Lightning by a score of 63-55. Given the Wildecats' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Lightning are ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wilde Lake got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dre Hoskins out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Hoskins is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Brazil, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds.

Wilde Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Wilde Lake is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Long Reach, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Looking ahead, Wilde Lake will take on River Hill on Monday. As for Long Reach, they will face off against Centennial on Monday. Long Reach is facing Centennial at the right time seeing as Centennial is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
