Basketball Recap: A Plus Academy Comes Up Short

A Plus Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-8. They took a 27-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Village Tech Viper Squid. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Viper Squid this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 30-15 on January 6th.

As for Village Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.3 points on average over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Village Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Qamryn Harris, who posted ten points along with eight boards and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Harris has scored at least a third of the Viper Squid's points. Another player making a difference was Zavianna Moore, who had four points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. A Plus Academy will square off against rival Trinity Leadership at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Village Tech is set to face off against their familiar foe Life Oak Cliff at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
