Baseball Recap: River Mill Jaguars vs. Ascend Leadership Aviators
In what's become a running theme this season, River Mill gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They never let the Ascend Leadership Aviators onto the board and left with an 11-0 win. The victory was just what River Mill needed coming off of a 10-0 loss in their prior contest.
Gavin Loy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Loy was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Tubbs, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was James Penrod, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
River Mill's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Ascend Leadership, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
River Mill will be playing in front of their home fans against Clover Garden School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ascend Leadership, they are on the road again in Tuesday's first game to play Triangle Math & Science at 4:30 p.m.
