Softball Recap: Byron Has No Trouble Against Ashton-Franklin Center

Byron picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders.

Alyssa Bauer spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Byron got a massive performance out of Caleigh Rybicki, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Larkin Knoll was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Byron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ashton-Franklin Center only managed seven hits.

Byron's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Ashton-Franklin Center, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season.

Byron has already played their next game, a 16-0 loss against Oregon on the 21st. As for Ashton-Franklin Center, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-0 defeat against Orangeville on the 21st.
