Baseball Recap: Manchester Gets the Win

Manchester posted their closest win since April 5, 2024 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Enfield Eagles, sneaking past 5-3. This was payback for the Red Hawks, who suffered a 4-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Dallas Manganello spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Angel Rodriguez was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Hickey, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Manchester lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Manchester's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Enfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Looking ahead, Manchester will face off against Tolland at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Enfield, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Glastonbury at 3:45 p.m.
