Basketball Recap: Oscoda Comes Up Short

Oscoda lost against Alcona back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Oscoda Owls fell just short of the Alcona Tigers by a score of 34-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Owls have suffered since February 6, 2024.

Ricky Schott was the offensive standout of the match as he went 5-for-11 on his way to 17 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Garrett Somers was another key player, putting up seven points and nine rebounds.

Oscoda's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Alcona, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oscoda will square off against Rogers City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Rogers City has won three straight at home, while Oscoda won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Alcona, they will challenge Ogemaw Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
