Baseball Game Preview: Lakeview Spartans vs. Lakeshore Lancers

Lakeview is 2-8 against Lakeshore since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Spartans will challenge the Lancers at 4:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Lakeview came up short against Mattawan on Monday, falling 9-2. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Zack Rogers was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lakeshore has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.74 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They lost 10-1 to Hudsonville. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Lakeshore's loss dropped their record down to 20-7. As for Lakeview, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-14.

Everything went Lakeview's way against Lakeshore when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Lakeview made off with a 12-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
