Vernon had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Sneads Pirates on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellowjackets have posted since April 8, 2025.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Vernon is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Chipley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sneads, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Port St. Joe at 6:00 p.m. on the 19th.
