Baseball Recap: Tri-City Christian Comes Up Short

Tri-City Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Orange Glen on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 12-6. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Sam Denning made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Shane Blanchard also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Even though they lost, Tri-City Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

Tri-City Christian's record is now 2-2. As for Orange Glen, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Tri-City Christian will head out to challenge Escondido Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tri-City Christian's pitchers better be ready for this one: Escondido Charter has averaged an impressive 17.8 runs per game this season. As for Orange Glen, they will host Foothills Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
