Softball Recap: West Mesquite Continues Home Dominance on Friday

West Mesquite's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 13-1 margin over the Adams Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Wranglers, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Avery Cox looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chasity Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Ava Garza, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

West Mesquite kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

West Mesquite's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Adams, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, West Mesquite will face off against Wilson at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Wilson will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something West Mesquite surely won't give up without a fight. As for Adams, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Spruce at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Adams is facing Spruce at the right time seeing as Spruce is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
