Baseball Recap: Manheim Central Falls to Penn Manor in First Game of Season

Manheim Central had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Penn Manor Comets, falling 16-8.

Manheim Central saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Connelly, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Connelly a new career-high. Another was Cam Thompson, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Connelly wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Manheim Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manheim Central will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Hempfield at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Penn Manor, they will welcome Octorara Area at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
