Basketball Recap: Holly Springs Comes Up Short

Holly Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 66-47 to the Coahoma County Red Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Red Panthers are ranked 29th).

It was another big night for Caleb Hearns, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds for Coahoma County. Hearns has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 17 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caron Pollard, who posted 15 points and five rebounds.

Holly Springs' loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Coahoma County, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-4.

Holly Springs will be playing in front of their home fans against Independence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coahoma County, they will challenge North Panola at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
