Softball Recap: Blacksburg Comes Up Short

Blacksburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 12-4 to the Lord Botetourt Cavaliers. If the Bruins were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Cavaliers when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Blacksburg saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alice Robinson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Blacksburg's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Lord Botetourt, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Blacksburg will venture away from home to face off against Cave Spring at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Lord Botetourt, they are taking a road trip to square off against William Byrd at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Terriers have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
