Volleyball Recap: Cassville Comets vs. Shullsburg Miners

Cassville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Shullsburg Miners. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Miners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The final score came out to 25-11, 25-12, 25-10.

Brielle Fishnick paced Cassville's offense, picking up seven kills. Fishnick got some help from Jocelyn Adrian and her ten assists. Molly Roe controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Shullsburg got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabelle Wiegel out in front who had 12 digs and one assist. Wiegel has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last ten times she's played. Meadow Wiegel also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Cassville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Shullsburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Cassville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against River Ridge on the 14th. As for Shullsburg, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Benton on the 14th.
