Volleyball Recap: Lathrop Beats River Islands for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Lathrop came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the River Islands Riptide by a score of 3-1.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 17-25, 25-20, 25-16.

Lathrop was led to victory by Mario Luna and Marc Llorin. Luna had four aces and three digs, while Llorin had six kills. Luna is also crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 29 every time he's taken the court this season.

They weren't the only good server: Lathrop was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in four consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, River Islands still got an impressive performance from Taray Irving, who had 13 digs and two aces. Eric Irving also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Lathrop's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. As for River Islands, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Lathrop didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Ceres on the 26th. As for River Islands, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Aspire Langston Hughes Academy on the 25th.
