Volleyball Recap: Nevada Union Miners vs. Placer Hillmen

After flying high against Del Campo last Thursday, Nevada Union came back down to earth. The Miners fell 3-1 to the Placer Hillmen on Tuesday. The Miners were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hillmen earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-13, 21-25, 25-14.

Ashley Thompson paced Nevada Union's offense, picking up ten kills. Thompson got some help from Ashlyn Lampe and her 15 assists. Thompson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Placer's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kayli Sellers led the charge by getting eight digs and three aces. What's more, Sellers racked up 19 assists, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. Sydney Hodge was another key player, getting 15 digs and four assists.

Nevada Union's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-8. As for Placer, their record is now 4-10.

Coincidentally, Nevada Union and Placer will both be playing Twelve Bridges the next time they take the court. The Miners will host the Raging Rhinos at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Hillmen will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
