Basketball Recap: Valley Union Piles Up the Points Against Lourdes Catholic

Valley Union fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past the Lourdes Catholic Warriors 58-11 on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Blue Devils also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2022.

Valley Union's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jolene Larson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave Larson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylee Gilbreth, who almost dropped a double-double on nine boards and nine assists.

Valley Union was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 6.2.

Valley Union's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Lourdes Catholic, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley Union will take on St. David at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lourdes Catholic, they will challenge Ray at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
